Finnish meatballs with Mashed potatoes - Lihapullat ja Muusi
(about 5€)

2 dl water / cream (kerma) / Finnish sour cream (kermaviili)
1 dl bread crumbs (you can make these yourself from your old, dry bread or buy a bag of bread crumbs) (korppujauhot)
1 egg (kananmuna)
1 onion (works without one too if you prefer) (sipuli)
1 tsp salt (suola)
0,5 tsp ground black pepper (mustapippurijauhe)
1 tsp ground paprika (paprikajauhe)
400 g minced meat (jauheliha)

1. Mix the water with the bread crumbs and let the mixture sit for a minute.
2. Peel and finely dice the onion.
3. Mix everything together.
4. Mold the mixture into even sized balls (you can prevent the meat from sticking onto your fingers by wetting your hands first).
5. Cook on a frying pan with a little bit of of butter / oil until thoroughly done (you can check this by cutting one ball open).
OR cook in the oven in 200 degrees for about 20 minutes.

TIPS! If you want some extra flavour for your meatballs, feel free to add any spices, such as chili, garlic or something from your homeland into the mix! If you’re feeling super lazy but are craving for some meatballs, you can always just mix some minced meat with seasoning and mold that into balls. As long as you make sure the mix is nice and smooth, it should hold together even without the egg and bread crumbs!

8-10 potatoes (you get the best results with the potato variety colour-coded with a red bag in the store)
75 g butter (check the inside of your packet of butter, there should be a measuring scale for every 50 grams)
2 dl milk (you can heat it up if you want your mash nice and hot)
salt

1. Peel and boil the potatoes until they’re pretty much falling apart.
2. Mash them with a potato masher or whatever works for you and add the butter and milk.
3. Mash it all up until nice and smooth. Add some milk if the mash is too thick.
4. Add salt to taste.
5. Finally, enjoy the mash with your meatballs and maybe some nice, fresh salad!
